    NCAA agrees to settle lawsuit from volunteer coaches

    The NCAA has reached a tentative settlement to resolve a category motion lawsuit from unpaid volunteer coaches, and the worth tag is substantial.

    If authorized by a federal choose, the NCAA would pay $303 million over three years to just about 8,000 present and former Division I coaches who alleged that the NCAA illegally denied them wages and violated antitrust regulation.

    From August 1992 till July 2023, according to the lawsuit, the NCAA and its member colleges agreed to cap the variety of paid coaches for Division I colleges, and every staff might have one volunteer coach who wouldn’t be compensated. The lawsuit was filed in March 2023 and solely covers volunteers who labored between March 17, 2019, by June 30, 2023.
