Week 3 of the college football season delivered another shake-up to the national championship odds, highlighted by Ole Miss spoiling Lane Kiffin’s return to Oxford.
The Rebels defeated Kiffin and LSU 32-24, earning a signature win against their former head coach. However, Week 4 was a different story. In a classic letdown “trap game” spot, Ole Miss fell to Florida 52-28 in the Swamp.

The Favorite: Ohio State remains the national title favorite at +475 after Week 4. The Buckeyes quickly moved past their heartbreaking loss to Texas with a dominant 59-3 win over Kent State in Week 3. Then, on Saturday, they took down Illinois behind a record-breaking performance from Jeremiah Smith. Smith finished with career highs in catches (12), receiving yards (217) and touchdowns (four). His four receiving TDs tied the Ohio State single-game record, making him the fifth Buckeye to reach that mark. He also became just the fifth player in Big Ten history with 3,000 receiving yards and 30 receiving touchdowns. The Buckeyes have their eyes on a massive Oct. 17 showdown with Indiana.
Gators Surge: Florida is 4-0 in Jon Sumrall’s first season after routing No. 4 Ole Miss 52-28 at home. It was the Gators’ first top-five win since beating No. 5 Georgia on Nov. 7, 2020, and their third straight home upset of a top-10 Ole Miss team. Florida’s national title odds jumped from +5000 to +2000, and for the first time in years, the Gators are back in championship conversations.
