Flyers throughout the US are dealing with large disruptions to their journey plans on Monday after gear outages stopped flights at Newark Liberty Worldwide Airport in New Jersey and Philadelphia Worldwide Airport in Pennsylvania, with no estimated time for resuming.
Greater than 700 flights have been canceled nationwide and one other 4,000 are delayed on Monday, with Newark hit the toughest.
The problems started when a circuit blew at a Philadelphia air visitors management facility Monday morning, FAA Administrator Bryan Bedford mentioned. When the backup system went into place, officers found the backup line in New Jersey had been lower, Bedford mentioned.
