    15th victim of UPS plane crash dies, according to Kentucky Gov. Beshear

    The McDonnell Douglas MD-11 plane was departing Louisville and headed to Daniel Okay. Inouye Worldwide Airport in Honolulu when the crash occurred. According to the Nationwide Transportation Security Board (NTSB), the plane’s left engine and left pylon separated from the wing simply because the aircraft was taking off, catching hearth because it went up and over the fuselage earlier than it hit the bottom.

    A hearth additionally ignited “close to the realm of the left pylon attachment to the wing, which continued till floor influence,” the NTSB’s preliminary report acknowledged.

    The aircraft solely ascended about 30 ft earlier than it crashed in a ball of fireplace, impacting a storage yard and two buildings, in accordance with the NTSB.

    Upon inspection following the crash, the left engine pylon confirmed indicators of fatigue cracks and over-stress failure, the NTSB mentioned.

    The three crew members on board and 11 folks on the bottom had been killed within the crash, officers mentioned. Moreover, 23 folks on the bottom had been injured, in accordance with the NTSB.

    The Federal Aviation Administration temporarily grounded all MD-11 plane after the crash till they had been inspected. There are about 70 MD-11s in service operated by UPS, FedEx and Western World, in accordance with Boeing, the plane’s producer.
