The Baltimore Orioles are coming off an extremely disappointing season, ending 75-87 after going 91-71 in 2024.
Needing an enormous bat in the course of their order, the Orioles made a press release Wednesday by agreeing to a take care of first baseman Pete Alonso, a former New York Met, to be their large bopper. Based on ESPN’s Jeff Passan, the deal is 5 years for $155M.
After basically betting on himself by signing a two-year take care of an opt-out after 12 months one with the Mets final offseason, Alonso hit .272 with an OPS of .871 and smashed 38 house runs. He led the Nationwide League in doubles with 41.
